Huacachina Oasis is a desert oasis and small village west of the city of Ica in southwestern Peru.

The oasis seems isolated from the world, beautiful, interesting, and charming in a high sense.

The surrounding dunes rise 300 feet, but the road to the west leads to the town of Ica.

The Legend of Huacachina

It's time for more information about the city itself, the origin of Huacachina is almost as magnificent as the vista.

It is said that the lake was created by a princess whose voice was so beautiful that it made people cry, and they called her “Huaca of China,” or “the crying girl.”

One day while she was bathing and singing, she noticed through her mirror that a hunter was watching her; she was startled and tried to run away.

As she ran, the cloth covering her fell off and created the sand dunes, and she tripped and broke the mirror, which turned into the lake.

She was transformed into a mermaid and is said to this day to come out into the moonlight and sing her ancient song.

At the main entrance to the lake, there is a stone sculpture of Huaca China in the form of a mermaid; she overlooks The Lake The town and its people.

Sandboarding experience in Huacachina

You can go sandboarding in Huacachina, after getting there.

The only way to get to Huacachina is to take a bus to the nearby town of Ica, either from Lima (4-5 hours) or Paracas (1-2 hours), and then take a taxi on the way to Huacachina (15 minutes).
