Unlike most cities in Holland But Rotterdam's urban planning is full of skyscrapers. The high-rise buildings and other examples of modern architecture attract many visitors daily.

Euromast Tower, Rotterdam
Euromast Tower construction completed In Rotterdam in 1960 and remained the tallest building in the city until 1968.
But two years later, an additional tower was built, increasing the height of the tower by 85 metres.
Although the tower is now much smaller than many other buildings in the city, it has remained a distinctive part of the city's skyline.

Due to its unique and asymmetrical design, this bridge is known as the Swan.
Because the bridge connects the north and south banks of the Nieuw Maas, the giant steel cables can be seen from most parts of central Rotterdam.

Cubic Houses, Rotterdam
These unusual cube-shaped houses located behind the Rotterdam waterfront are actually habitable and are designed to optimize living space via their sloping facades.
The architect took inspiration for his design from the trees of a forest, with each cube representing a single tree within a larger group of trees.
Although most of these houses are currently inhabited, one of the cubes also houses a museum.

In 2014, Queen Máxima unveiled the newest market hall in Rotterdam.
Designed by a leading Dutch architecture firm, this massive horseshoe-shaped building is decorated with one of the world's largest works of art that covers the entire interior ceiling of the Markthal.
In addition to the market stalls, the hall also contains hundreds of offices and apartments.

This skyscraper in Rotterdam is currently the tallest building in the world. Holland It reaches a height of 165 meters at its highest peak.
This giant skyscraper has also been awarded numerous architectural awards since its completion in 2006.
It is regularly cited as one of the most impressive modern buildings in the Benelux region.

New York Hotel
The company that owned the famous New York Hotel in Rotterdam was among the first to set up shop in the city.
Before it became a hotel, the building was owned by a ferry company that transported Dutch immigrants across the Atlantic.
Today, the hotel is recognized as a national monument, due to its beautiful Art Nouveau-inspired architecture, and is now surrounded by several towering skyscrapers.

Central Station
In order to handle the increasing number of rail traffic passing through Rotterdam, the city municipality started building a new central station in 2004 and this was completed in 2014.
Upon its official launch, this modern station immediately became a unique and distinctive part of the city's landscape.

As its name suggests, the Netherlands Institute of Architecture houses several projects related to Dutch structural design, including a museum, library and lecture halls.
The organization's current headquarters was built in 1998 and is designed to blend into the modern Rotterdam skyline with a distinctive touch of old Dutch architecture.

Although most of Rotterdam's historic city centre was destroyed by air strikes during World War II, some old buildings actually survived this devastating attack.
One of the most famous pre-war buildings in the city centre is the Witte Huis, built in 1898 with a unique architectural style.
