1. Port Vila – Capital
Set on beautiful Vila Bay and a series of lagoons, beaches and offshore islands, Port Vila is a surprisingly compact yet powerful city.
In fact it's a bit of a zigzag around the sides, with a few traffic-laden highways providing a supply of souvenirs, markets, restaurants and waterfront cafes with many lasting French influences.
This is the busiest city in Vanuatu, with a huge range of travel and adventure activities, various restaurants, bars, supermarkets, banks and markets.

2. Malkula Island
It is one of the top tourist attractions in Vanuatu.
Shaped like a sitting dog, the island is one of 14 main islands in Vanuatu.
It is the second largest island in the archipelago and is located between the popular tourist destination of Espiritu Santo and the island of Efate where the capital and aviation hub of Port Vila is located.

3. Oyster Island
The dreamy resort on Oyster Island consists of a range of distinctive traditional-style cottages (the finest are the waterfront) and very cheerful units.

4. Champagne Beach
Champagne Beach is a beautiful horseshoe of fine white sand and turquoise aqua that gets rave reviews from cruise ship tourists.
If you are driving, keep your transportation well away from the beach to avoid extra charges.
An impromptu souvenir market is created when cruise ships are in the water.

5. Millennium Cave
Hike through the jungle, across a river mouth, along bamboo bridges and over small waterfalls to this massive cave, 20 metres wide and 50 metres high, about 15 kilometres from Luganville.
Descend a bamboo ladder, across a rock pool avoiding small waterfalls and tiny bats. Then emerge into the sunlight and cool water to slide down the slopes behind huge, stunning boulders, magnificent rainforest and waterfalls.

6. Port Olry
At the top of the closed street you reach Port Olry, a small French-speaking fishing village with an impressive arc of white sand beach and striking turquoise waters.
Three islands off the coast are accessible by various boats, and offer great snorkelling in the coral reefs.
Furthermore, there are a number of fine home-style restaurants and bungalow operations in this place, making it a great place to relax for a few days.

7. Milly Cascades
It is a popular and panoramic swimming spot located 10 km from Port Vila.
A series of transparent aquamarine water tanks run up the hillside, culminating in a spectacular 35-metre waterfall that cascades into a natural plunge pool.
A slippery path with guide threads leads you to the top.
In addition there are toilets, changing rooms and a café bar with free Wi-Fi at the access point.
Head out on a local minibus, or enjoy a guided tour with Evergreen.

8. Hideout Island
About 100 metres or so off the coast from Meli Beach, Hideaway Island is not all that hidden but it is one of the favourite spots for snorkelling, diving or having lunch.
Once you arrive on the island, you can snorkel in the marine sanctuary, enjoy a scuba diving trip and send a waterproof postcard from the world's only submerged post office.
